The common reed


This plant is one of the biggest italian gramineae. It is easy to see it wild: you can find it in marshy land, near the lacks or near the river  or canals. Its main characteristic is the big gnarled under water rhizone on which form very flexible trunks 4 m. high. Its leaves are very  sharpened. The infiorescence is similar to a corncop 40 cm. long which has pendant or straight "hairy" brown ear. This plant is harmful  cause its reproduction, in fact it has both type of reproduction (sexual and  asexual), but asexual reproduction is speedest and effective.  It is important to know that under water trunks contribute to lackes  landfill.
