It belongs to
Fagaceae's family and it grows since 30-35 m. high, while
the diameter of the trunk is 1,5 m large. It is a deciduous plant, and it is
cultivated for its beautiful leaves and its typical bearing. Its trunk is
cilindric, straight, and it has few lateral branches. its foliage is conic
at the bottom but it becames oval with a little treetop.
The bark (gray with white points) is slim and smooth. This plant
grows fast wherever is sunny or in the shade.
You can find this plant allover in Italy: it lives wherever is humid
and temerated, while it is not very resistent in cold spell.
The most common species is the Fagus sylvatica and there are different
types: the slopeing, the purpurea (with red leaves) and the one with leaves as
lances.
All of these plants are ornamental.
